Chapter One
Gia’s lips pressed against mine as she zipped up my pants. She’d just finished sucking me off and I was already hard again. Her hands slid up my chest and she tugged at the stethoscope I hadn’t even bothered to remove.
“Will there be anything else, doctor?” she asked in that pouty voice of hers.
I kissed her hard, just to show my gratitude, and slapped her ass as she walked out the door. Sighing, I checked myself in the mirror. I still had four hours left in my day. I should take a shower before I got back to work, but the wipes I had in my locker should do the trick. It was only a blowjob after all.
Gia had become my new fuck buddy since Charlie ran off with Will. Lucky fucker. I didn’t want Charlie for myself, not in that way, but she was a damn good lay, and I didn’t have to worry about her getting clingy. Gia, I wasn’t so sure about. I had been very clear that I could only offer her sex, but the way she was constantly mauling me, I had to wonder if she was trying to fuck me so much that I didn’t want to walk away from her. I would. She just didn’t do it like that for me.
She was smart enough, and she was definitely good in bed, but I didn’t find myself daydreaming about her, or wanting the white picket fence. And the way she talked in that pouty voice actually pissed me off, but she just kept offering. It was hard to say no.
I slipped out of the empty room, walking as casually as if I was just leaving a patient. I headed for the locker rooms. I still had another ten minutes on my lunch break, which was plenty of time to clean up. I opened the door and walked to my locker, opening it and pulling out some wipes. No one else was in here, so I quickly unzipped and cleaned myself up. I was just tucking my shirt back in when the door opened and Charlie walked through.
She smirked at me, rolling her eyes. “Gia?”
I sighed, scrubbing my hand across my face. “That woman is tenacious.”
“That woman is a lawsuit waiting to happen.”
I frowned, tossing the used wipes in the garbage. “No she’s not. She knows exactly where we stand.”
“Does she?” Charlie sat down on the bench and untied her shoes.
“Where are you going?”
“I have to pick up Oliver from school. He threw up twice before they got ahold of me.”
I grimaced. “Poor kid. Why isn’t Will getting him?”
“Because he’s my son,” she said with a slight grin.
“Whatever happened to him treating him like his own son?”
“He still does, but that doesn’t mean I have free rein to pull him from his job any time I need help.”
“Well, what about James?”
“James is out of town with bimbo number four.”
“Number four? I thought he was getting remarried.”
“He was, but it fell through. I don’t know, something about them being too different.”
“Wait a minute,” I said, taking a seat beside her. “Wasn’t she the whole reason that he came out and told you how perfect his life was now?”
She shrugged. “Honestly, I think he really misses her. I’m not sure what happened, but he seems really sad now that she’s gone. These other women are just placeholders for her.”
“Aww, look at you feeling sorry for your ex-husband.”
“Well, I do have some feelings.” She pulled her shirt over her head and my eyes roamed down her perfect chest. Sighing, I turned away. I couldn’t look at her anymore without thinking about what it was like to be inside her. I didn’t want her, I just missed the sex.
“Why did you turn away?” she asked me with laughter in her voice.
“It’s not fair. I can’t look at you and pretend I don’t know what it’s like to be inside you.”
“Please, don’t say that shit in front of Will.”
“He would understand,” I argued. “I just need to find someone of my own.”
“And how’s that going?”
“Not very good,” I muttered. “Gia’s fine for now, but I won’t be marrying her, let alone dating her. She’s too…”
“Clingy?”
I winced, not wanting to say it. “She knows where we stand.”
“Please,” she snorted. “All the nurses talk about how Gia plans on marrying you within two years.”
I turned suddenly, feeling a little panicked. “She does?”
“Oh, you poor, sad man. It’s scary that you can’t even see the woman is head over heels in love with you. I’m telling you, she’s gonna lose her mind and go crazy one of these days. Just make sure your pants are zipped up when it happens.”
I swallowed hard as Charlie finished getting dressed. Was I blind? Surely Gia understood that our relationship wasn’t going any further than it was now. Yes, I had already considered she was maybe more attached than I thought, but…
“Yeah, you keep thinking about it. In the meantime, make sure you wear a condom at all times, and buy your own.”
My eyes widened as she walked out the door, leaving me with that bombshell I hadn’t even considered. Crap, I was going to have to talk to Gia. I glanced at my watch, pissed I didn’t have time to take care of it now. I was already running late. It would have to wait until my shift was over.
✯
“Gia!” I ran to catch up to her as she headed out to her car. She turned to me, batting her eyelashes slightly. Fuck, why hadn’t I seen it before?
“Yeah, baby?”
I cringed, walking up to her, but keeping distance between us, which she quickly covered. I grabbed her hands just as she tried to lay them against my chest. I was going to have to end this now. It was clear to me now that it had been pointed out. She stared at me just a little too dreamily. She caressed me more than just touched me. Hell, she was already planning out when we would have kids. It was all there in that one look.
“Listen, you know I have a great time with you—”
“Me too,” she grinned. She glanced around and then leaned up to whisper in my ear. “I especially love it when your rock hard cock is down my throat.”
I swallowed hard and stepped back. Damn, this woman knew how to play a man. “Yeah, I like that too, but—”
“Do you want me to do it right now?” Her hand trailed down my pants, grabbing my crotch just a tad too hard. “I love how hard you get for me.”
With wide eyes, I tried to back away, tried to get my dick out of her grasp, but she wouldn’t let me. She was already getting to her knees, right in the middle of the fucking parking lot.
“Gia! You have to stop. We’re in public.”
“Who cares? I need you.”
She unzipped me, even as I tried to pry her hands away from me. “This isn’t happening. We can’t see each other anymore.”
“Says who?” she asked, pulling my cock out. I didn’t even feel the cold from winter as she wrapped her hand around my length.
I groaned as her lips closed around me and she sucked me into the back of her throat. “No, this…isn’t going to happen,” I said, jerking myself back from her.
“Why not? Did you find someone else that can make you come the way I do?”
She reached for me again, just as I was shoving myself back in my jeans. Holy hell, this woman didn’t stop. Now I understood how she had me wrapped around her finger. I just needed to figure out how to extricate myself from her. She kept pawing at me, standing and shoving me against a car. Her hands were all over me, ripping my coat open. It was insane.
My phone started ringing, and I snatched it from my coat pocket, desperate for anything to get this woman off me. “Hello?”
“Mr. Stark, this is Mr. Roark’s assistant, Alisha, at Jenkins, Roark, and Mattherly…”
“Uh, yes!” I shouted, jerking myself away from Gia. “Yes, how can I help you?”
“Mr. Roark is requesting you stop by the office this afternoon. There’s a discrepancy with your tax returns he needs to talk to you about.”
“Right, I’ll be right there. Thank you!”
I tore myself from Gia, scrambling around to the other side of the car she was going to maul me against. “Uh…I have to go. Urgent matter and…bye!”
I ran toward my car, praying she wasn’t following me. I didn’t even bother to look behind me as I opened the door and slammed it shut. Breathing a sigh of relief, I pressed the button to start the car, practically jumping out of my skin when she slammed her hand on the driver’s window.
“Jesus Christ!” I shouted, trying my best to shift into reverse. She ran her tongue down the window, then pressed kisses all over it. The woman was demented. How did I not see it? I locked the doors and shifted into reverse, practically tossing her away from the car as I backed up. She grinned at me in this saucy way that made me hard, just before tossing me a finger wave.
Shuddering, I pulled out of the parking lot and headed to the accounting firm I used. I didn’t care what was going on with my taxes right now. I was just glad for the interference. I headed downtown to the largest building in town. At five stories high, this was considered our small town’s skyscraper. I took the elevator to the fourth floor where the offices were located and checked in at the front desk. The woman seemed confused as to why I was stopping by.
“I received a call from Mr. Roark’s secretary about a discrepancy in my taxes.”
She pursed her lips as she dialed the phone. “I’m so sorry, but I’m not getting an answer from his secretary or Mr. Roark. Perhaps they’re in a meeting.”
Sighing in irritation, I was about to turn to leave when a leggy brunette stepped out of the conference room, stopping me in my tracks. My eyes roamed over every beautiful inch of her. Tall, with legs that went on for miles, she was curvy in all the right places. She dressed professionally, but damn, that pencil skirt had my cock hardening painfully. And her white blouse was just barely see-through, enough for me to get a glimpse of the outline of her lacy bra. Her dark hair was twisted up on top of her head in some kind of updo that women liked. But her face was the most striking. Innocent was the first word that came to mind. She didn’t even have on a stitch of makeup from what I could see. Her skin looked naturally flawless, but her blue eyes shone bright behind those dark framed glasses. She had the most beautiful smile, with perfect white teeth, and as she laughed with the woman standing next to her, I longed to know what she was saying, just so I could hear her laugh again.
“Mr. Stark,” the secretary said again. “Would you like me to schedule an appointment for you?”
“Uh…” I couldn’t take my eyes off her. Every inch of her drew me in.
Then she headed my way and for the first time in my life around a woman, I was speechless. The kind smile on her face, and the way she ducked her head as she met my eyes made me want to kiss her.
Fuck, I was screwed.
“Is there a problem?” she asked the secretary.
“Alisha asked Mr. Stark to stop by because of his taxes, but I can’t get ahold of either of them now.”
She smiled up at me. “I can take care of you. I believe I worked on your account. I’m Penelope Howell.” She held out her hand, and the moment I wrapped mine around hers, feeling her soft skin rub against mine, I knew I had to have her. Not just fuck her, no, I wanted to date her. She was the one. I could feel it deep in my bones. She was the one I had been waiting for.
“Nathan,” I croaked out, smiling at her.
“Why don’t you follow me to my office and I’ll fill you in.”
She turned, her ass swaying from side to side as she led me down the hall. I did my best not to stare, but it was fucking hard. I was fucking hard. I discreetly adjusted myself and followed her into her office. The windows had that white effect that allowed in light, but kept the privacy inside. I was all alone with her, with no one watching. Christ, I sounded like a creeper.
She took her seat and motioned for me to sit. “This really wasn’t a big deal. There was only a signature missing.” She pulled out the file from her drawer and flipped through it, finding the page in seconds. “Right here,” she said, spinning the folder to face me. “I just need you to sign and you’ll be all set.”
She handed me a pen that took me longer than it should have to accept. I was touching the very same pen she just held. I stared at it, wondering what it would be like to have her hands on me, to feel her soft skin moving with mine.
“Mr. Stark?”
I looked up at her and smiled. “Right. Signature,” I laughed. Signing quickly, I spun the folder back around, but kept the pen, sticking it just inside my breast pocket. If she noticed, she didn’t say anything.
“Great! That’s all I needed from you.”
She stood, letting me know we were all done, but I couldn’t leave yet. I needed to see her again. “Would you like to have dinner with me?”
She blinked up at me and laughed slightly. “I think that would go against our company policy.”
“You finished the taxes, right?”
“Well, they still need to be filed…”
“But after that, you’re done.”
She tilted her head to the side in thought. “I suppose.”
“And I won’t be coming back here for another year.”
“Right,” she said slowly.
“So, why not have dinner with me?”
She smiled shyly, fiddling with the dainty necklace that hung around her slim neck. “Alright. I’d like that.”
“Great. How about tomorrow, say seven o’clock?”
“I could do that.”
I pulled out my phone and stared at her. “Your number?” I asked smoothly.
She rattled it off and I sent her a quick text. When it beeped, I grinned at her. “I’ll make a reservation and let you know where. May I pick you up?”
“I’d like that.”
“Great. Send me your address.”
